Ah son of a- HALP!

Post by invertin » Thu Aug 16, 2007 8:37 am

My dad (or mum, I'm not sure) has put a filter in place.

But it's a powerful filter, and the most strict filter in the world. It blocked Youtube just because it has videos!

It blocks half of the images on this site, it blocks Newgrounds, not because of the violence that is common on newgrounds.. But because it has games.

BECAUSE IT HAS GAMES!

Worse, It's blocked every Proxy I've used so far, and I can't get rid of it because I need a password.

More info:
It's called K9 or something like that.

Can anyone help me put down this evil filtering dog?

Talk to your parents rather than trying to get around it without their permission. If they find that you've worked your way around it, they'll probably assume the worst and think you're looking at beastiality porn or something. Talk to them, tell them what kind of sites you want to go to and have them unblock certain things. I'm sure they'll be okay with it...I mean you're allowed here...

I still want to kill it.

It was probably my dad (since my mum can't use a computer for anything but shopping), and he's at work right now.

*sigh*
I'll just have to wait...

Just wait, if you don't look at porn, then you really shouldn't care anyway, if you're trustworthy.

I would never stand for that. I don't really go to many sites I wouldn't want my parents to know about, but I really would not like the principle of it. Just tell them that they should try to raise a kid that wouldn't want to look at horrible stuff rather than stopping them from looking at it till they're eighteen. If that doesn't work, wipe the hard drive.

I don't recommend being pissed off, but I personally would be pissed off.
I would take it as an insult.
Restricting is rarely a good thing to do.

Edit: K9 is free, can be removed with a password chosen at installation but if fiddled with will block ALL web access (wtf).
Did your parents even say anything?

If you choose war (Not always the best choice, though), "Inspect" their password books. :P

Or guess the password (Not quite as hard as you'd think if you know someone well enough).

Use DOS mode or something similar to wipe K9 from your hard drive.

I'd recommend number three first, number one second, and number two last.

Guessing a password is extremely difficult no matter how well you know people. They could capitalise certain letters or abbreviate it or anything. It's near impossible to guess passwords.

That's why it's a last resort.

However, if you know someone well enough, you might realise they tend to use "password" for all their passwords. And not everyone capitalises letters or uses numbers, I for one tend to not use either.

For a password people are not inclined to let you know if they use the same password for everything, particularly not your parents who hide stuff from you.

Also, people generally try not to make passwords too predictable. That's kind of the point.

Or you could ask your parents first rather than trying to get around their security...why? So they don't fuck you over later because you did something they didn't want...you know how parents are.

Which is exactly why you'd choose "password", it's the last thing anybody checks! :P

Whos computer is it?
Yours or your Fathers (the family computer)?

If its your fathers/family computer, I can understand that happining, how ever, if its my own personal computer that Was given to me/I spent my hard earned, tax paying dollars for, I would open a can of KA-Kun-TING-salut (as the Thai people say) on my father.

i know what to do, i have that k9 thing too, if you know any emails your parents use you can go to add/remove programs and remove it, it should ask for a password, click send password to email thing, then log on to all emails you know, when you got the right one, yaaay!!!
