Shoop

Post by Pkeod » Tue Mar 24, 2009 8:32 pm

http://shoopdawhoop.com/

Feedback please. Is it funny? Does it suck? Would you tell your friends? Probably if you've never seen a meme in your life then nothing on the site will be amusing to you.

Basically the idea is to make use this site to drive traffic to other sites such as this one like what was done in the past. Shoop gets from 500-2000 unique visits a day currently.

It's a panorama full of memes, that's all.

So, if I got this right, that being posted here drives traffic to Wolfire's site?

Also, what exactly is this doing in the SPF? :?

I read it as the other way around, since linking to it from Wolfire's site would have no effect on the traffic to Wolfire's site and there are no links going from that site. It rather just gives that site more views. I also want to know what the heck "like what was done in the past" means.

Nothing. If anything this belongs in the Randomness forum.

Ask Jeff or John if this is really spam. :)

In the past I've used Shoop to drive a lot of traffic to Wolfire pages, but before I had really media heavy content and bandwidth usage was an issue so I've been trying to figure out a way to make the site still interesting and still not require a ton of money for hosting. I posted this here because this is a private forum, and I'd really not want to post about it on a public forum directly.

Fair enough, but how does this drive traffic to wolfire pages? There is no link to wolfire in the panorama is there?

I have a hosting plan @ bluehost.com for 6 domains and 250GB space + nearly unlimited transfer bandwidth.

ATM I'm using like 3-5GB. If your looking for hosting, I'd be glad to give some.

Shoop used to use 30 gigs of bandwidth on average every day. :P

Even if this obscure page would direct traffic to wolfire somehow... I still don't think it should've been posted in the SPF.
Many people who'd see the 'no permission to access this forum' at this unknown location probably wouldn't bother to look into it further...
At least, that's what I imagine..
