System (OS, Video Card etc)?
Latest video/sound drivers installed?
Did you get Lugaru from wolfire.com?
Have you registered the game?

You still haven't answered what operating system you're using :P
Try deleting the Lugaru config.txt file.

Drivers depend on OS and what video card you've got.
If you're using MacOSX, you don't need to worry about drivers, they're included in OS updates. I don't know exactly how you do it in Linux or Windows.

Alright, I'm using windows. Now, what kind of graphics card do you have? Nvidia or ATI or onboard video? If you don't know, go to control panel, system, device manager and then click the graphics adapters drop down menu. That should tell you. Then I'll tell you what drivers you need.

You need the OpenGL drivers for your card. They should be part of the newest standard drivers of your card since OpenGL is proven technology, standard for years on all cards you can buy.
Go to the support page of your graphics card's chipset manufacturer (usually NVidia or ATI), download and install the newest drivers and you should be fine. You should be certain though that they are the correct drivers.
To find out which chipset your card has, look into your user's manual or check out what Windows tells you about it. Some cards also have the manufacturer printed on them, it gets more common lately.

Okay, then your latest driver is located here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_93.71.html
..If you have a 32bit-Version of Windows 2000 or XP.

If you've got some other kind of configuration (64bit or whatever), click yourself through the appropriate choice menus here: http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

It should be safe to download your installer and immediately installing it without caring about deinstallation of the old one.

Have fun!

A nice side effect should be that all your nifty WinXP-slide-transparent-menu-stuff should now perform better.

Have fun playing Lugaru and consider buying it - you'll get the chance to play the whole default campaign, a custom campaign by Silb and lots and lots of custom maps made by this community. Besides, you'll be able to make your own maps (which is fun)! And you'll be able to bash wolves with staffs! The awesomeness! ;)
